Contractors that offer Co-Pay Assistance • Have you thought about how much you could save if co-pay assistance programs were used? • Co-Pay assistance programs are available from the major drug companies to pay the co-pays for ARVs as well as other drugs. • An analysis of all co-pay assistance provided in three Regions for ARVs ONLY was conducted for one month.
A Sample taken from Region A • Had 277 co-pays for ARVs • Encompassed several months from one area but only one month from other areas • The total dollar amount for the copays was $16,464 • If Region A had used co-pay assistance programs, they would have had to pay $2,667 • Region A would have saved $13,797.
A subset of Region B • Had 136 co-pays for ARVs in the month of July • The total co-pay amount that was paid was $9,067 • If the subset of Region B used co-payment assistance programs (one provider already does) they would have paid $2,634. • The subset of region B would have saved $6,433.
A Sample from Region C • Had 49 co-pays for ARVs for a month chosen at random • They paid $5,146 in co-pay assistance • If they used co-pay assistance programs they would have paid $2,255 • They would have saved $2,892
