  1. How Do Old Age Homes Enlighten the Younger Generation? We are often told old age homes should be shut down as it teaches people to abandon their parents. When everyone sees old age homes in a negative light, the ones like the old age home in Ahmedabad are trying really hard to make a difference. The generation in their second childhood tries not to be a burden on anyone. In the time that is spent in the old age home, the older generation is seen sitting and spending time with the younger generation. While NGOs have different purposes, many of them try to give back to society by taking care of each other on their own. Immense stories have emerged from within old age homes that inspire people to live a better life. One of them is this. From 100s of NGOs and old age homes all across India, old people who have felt the need to be independent have been seen doing different types of chores. And teaching children, interacting with the younger generation, sprinkling knowledge seems to the best one of them. This is not it… In a lot of NGOs, including the best NGO in Ahmedabad, old people not only believe in teaching children bookish things but skills. Since old people are more patient compared to the younger generation, they are seen sitting with the student and spending time without any expectations in return. In the time the older generation heroes spend with children, they also feel good. When talked to one of the people from the old age home, they explained how happy they felt spending time with children. This way the old people feel more homely, teaching children of the age of their grandchildren. Children who have been abandoned even before they got used to the world seem to be attached to the old people in almost all the NGOs. Through sessions where everyone sits together and discusses issues and learns about new things, children find the warmth they felt was missing in their lives. Being accepted and loved is what children expect from their parents. When children are left alone at such a tender age, many NGOs like the old age home in Ahmedabad take them in and look after them. From feeding them, to taking caring of them, to teaching them basic skills to survive in the world, the NGOs do their part.
