  1. Old Age Home–A Shallow Trend that is Rising The transformations in various sectors like personal, financial, and social have created severe impact on society. This transformation has changed the lifestyle of people positively as well as negatively. As a result of this transformation, senior citizens of our country are facing some serious problems. The transition of traditional life to modern life required certain sacrifices and adjustments. One such adjustment as a result of shallow mentality of this generation is old age home. The need for old age homes has increased over a period of time. We need to examine how the advancement in our lifestyle has changed the life pattern for the elderly. The care and support which we were supposed to provide to our elders, is now provided by NGOs and old age homes. For understanding the concept of old age homes, we need to look at the lifestyles of the elderly long back. Before, everyone used to live in a joint family. The scenario changed as the joint family system was replaced with the nuclear family system. Now migrating to different cities or states or even countries, raises the question to either stay back to provide care and support to parents or to migrate. Many youngsters migrate to different places leaving behind parents to take care of themselves or with their relatives. In the absence of either option, the only choice left is to leave parents in the old age homes. India, being the second most populated country in the world, has witnessed an explosive growth in the population of age 60 or above. The steady growth of elderly people in the country has also increased the problems faced by the elderly. With no other place to live, most of the elderly people have to live in old age homes.
