  1. WELCOME TO MACNHESTER MASSAGE

  2. Everything You Need to Know About Deep Tissue Massage Many clients want to know what exactly is involved in a Deep Tissue Massage and whilst the limitations of a blog will only scratch the surface, we hope to give new clients to this form of therapy a clear idea of what to expect.

  3. Whether this is a regular part of your personal healthcare plan or a remedial massage to address an immediate problem, this intensive massage is designed to help with the repair of the soft tissues which are affected by strains and pains. These may be as the direct result of an injury - sporting, work related or even a road traffic accident, or they may be the accumulation of repeated positions or movements at work, those working at a computer keyboard are particularly susceptible. A brief consultation at the beginning of your treatment with your therapist will give her an indication, but you will be amazed that many of the experienced therapists at Manchester Massage can tell you your problems before you even start to share!

  4. With an overall massage to warm and relax the muscles the therapist will focus her attention on the areas you have problems with, her fingers seeking out those problem areas and working on the knots and lesions she locates. The well known saying “No pain, no gain” is something that is often at the back of a client’s mind and while a Deep Tissue Massage should not hurt, addressing the hidden areas causing the pain you are experiencing may mean that you may feel some discomfort and possibly a little sore the next day. One way to look at this is by comparing this type of massage with a work out or a strenuous walk, especially if your fitness levels are a little lower than usual because of the existing damage, you would naturally expect to feel somewhat stiff the day after. You may have heard of this as “good pain” because it is in fact remedying the root cause or causes. Different people have different pain levels and clients are requested at any point to ask their therapist to ease back on the pressure if it is too much.

  5. Therapist performing the Deep Tissue Massage will use a massage oil to ease the movements on your body, enabling those long, deep strokes. Aiming the pressure at the deeper muscle layers the client will appreciate the difference from the most relaxation-focused Swedish Massage, as the deep strokes are both firmer and slower along the fibres of the soft tissues. This type of massage and its attendant pressure increases the circulation which in turn aids the healing processes through more oxygen being brought to the muscles, tendons and ligaments. The Deep Tissue Massage is a safe and effective therapy but if you are in any doubt because of a medical condition, or current treatment to an injury, clients are strongly advised to seek the approval of a medical practitioner.
