  3. Information • New Unit – South Asia - we will be moving quickly through this • 3rd Marking Period ends April 3 - all late items less than two weeks old must be submitted by Wednesday, March 26 • Final MIRPL assignment give this week - get it done, 4th Marking Period is hectic

  4. Current Events • Over 122 objects found in ocean - satellite images - many large objects, bright pieces • North Korea launches more missiles - multiple missile launches in the last few days

  6. South Asia – Physical Geography • Chapter 24 Reading - DRA and vocabulary • Identify main ideas/create notes from sections in the organizer boxes • Will work through sections this week - pace yourself to have this done quickly - limited class time - Due by Thursday, March 27

  7. Rivers, Deltas, Plains • Northern Indian Plain - fed by the three rivers - fertile soils, farming • Provides irrigation - essential for supporting life • Issues of flooding - can cause damage - alluvial soil deposits • Why would 2/3 of the population live in this region?

  11. Resources • Water and Soil - farming and agriculture • Timber (Forests) - specialty lumber - teak, sandalwood • Minerals - iron ore, micah, uranium • Gem Stones - sapphires, etc…
