  4. Review Rules for making nouns plural:  1. Add an –s to most singular nouns to make them plural. (hats, homes)  2. If a noun ends in –ch, -sh, -s, -x, -z; add –es to make it plural. (churches, boxes)  3. If a noun ends in –f, or –lf, you usually change the f to a v and add –es to make it plural. If it ends in –fe, you usually change the f to a v and add –s. (wolves, knives)  4. If a noun ends in a consonant followed by –y, drop the –y and add –ies to make it plural. (flies, pennies)  5. If a noun ends in a vowel followed by –y, just add –s to make it plural. (days, boys)  6. If a noun ends in a consonant followed by –o, add –es to make it plural. (potatoes, heroes)  7. Some nouns, like mouse, form odd plurals. Memorize them! (children, feet)
