  1. BUS 330a: Corporate Finance“Course requirements and expectations” • This undergraduate course is based on active leaning (student-center) approach, interactive teaching and case study analysis. • It combines sound theoretical knowledge (general principles of finance) with appropriate practical skill and experience in analyzing, monitoring and reporting the performance of an international company.

  2. Course Requirements • Team work • An effective and efficient team brings togetherdiverse viewpoints and skills. • In forming your teams, make sure that you consider theunique talents of each potentialmember. • Team members will receive a group grade andwill evaluate each other. • Class preparation • Your reading and preparation of the course materials and the textbook support our lectures, discussions, and work in class. • In an ungraduate course we do “go over” the most important material in the textbook.

  3. Course Requirements • Class participation • You can get up to 3% extra points through regular class participation asking exceptionally good questions, or making exceptionally good comments. • I will call on people on both case and lecture days. • HWs and Quizzes • Students will work on their HWs and quizzes individually. • You may work together and help each other learn and understand. However, each person turns in her/his own work. • There is a specific deadline for each assignment or exam and it cannot be changed.

  4. Course Requirements • Case reports • We will cover 5-6 mini cases, developed in class. No written report is required, but class participation is important. • All students must read the case (including the end-of-case questions) and be prepared to answer orally a specific set of questions about the case. • Each student will receive extra points (up to 3 percent), based on his or her active participation in case discussions. • Regular class attendance will also bring some additional points on the top of your final, final grade.

  5. Course Requirements • Portfolio Project • There will be a portfolio project that requires group efforts (teams of 3 students). • Each team will have to conduct an investigation of a real company that will be chosen individually by each group. • The portfolio project consists of two mid-semester report and a final report. • The project outcomes will be presented during the scheduled time in the syllabus. • The evaluation of your reports will be based on the quality of content and the results of your research work.

  6. Course Expectations • Students contribution • This is an ungraduate level course. So, I expect independent study and also urge group preparation, but during your exams you must work independently. • A positive attitude, diligence, and hard work add greatly to learning. • You should ask for aregular feedback on your up-to-date performance. • You should come and talk to me in person if you have any concerns and/or questions about your performance. • Turn in items – items collected for grade – on due time.
