Ultimate goal • Full integration • All health standards are addressed during the year. • Have teachers use nutrition as the vehicle to teach core subjects. • Trimester maps include nutrition throughout core subject areas.
Prior to Weaving Nutrition Training • Focused on providing and creating nutrition lesson activities and worksheets that met core curriculum standards. • Teacher trainings highlighted and modeled stand alone nutrition lessons.
After Weaving Nutrition training • Focused more on how to incorporate nutrition into the trimester maps and units/themes. • Realized that we need to involve teachers every step of the way. • Connected with NEC to brainstorm ideas on how to approach this endeavor.
Met with District leadStaff Development Coordinator • Questions asked: • Are Health Ed Standards adopted? NO • Is there an official health ed curriculum?
