  6. “IN CHRIST” EVERY CHRISTIAN HAS A • PAST, • PRESENT AND A • FUTURE. “IN CHRIST”

  7. Take a look in the mirror.

  8. Ephesians 2:1 • “You were DEAD in your transgressions and sins…” • B.C. PAST

  9. Ephesians 2:2 • DISOBEDIENT • “…In which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.” PAST

  10. Ephesians 2:3a • DEPRAVED • “All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts.” PAST

  11. Ephesians 2:3b • DOOMED • “Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.” PAST

  12. DEAD IN SIN • DISOBEDIENT • DEPRAVED • DOOMED PAST—B.C.

  13. Take a look in the mirror.

  14. “BUT…” • Ephesians 2:4-6 • “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ…” PRESENT

  15. Ephesians 2:6 • “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus…” PRESENT

  16. Take a look in the mirror.

  17. Ephesians 2:7 • “In order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.” (NIV) FUTURE

  23. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith…” HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

  24. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—” HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

  25. “Not by works, so that no one can boast,” HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

  26. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?

  27. “God’s workmanship” • The Greek word is poiema (poem) • God’s poem • God’s masterpiece • God’s design • God’s handiwork • So, look in the mirror again!

  28. Take another look in the mirror.

  29. 1 Thess. 5:10 • “He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.” WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE?

  30. Rev. 21:3 • “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.” WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE?

  31. Rev. 21:4 • “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE?

  32. 1 John 3:2 • “But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.” WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE?

  33. Romans 8:17 • “We are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.” WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE?

  34. 1 Cor. 3:8-15 • “Each will be rewarded according to his own labor.” • “The fire will test the quality of each man’s work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward.” WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE?

  35. Eph. 1:18 • “The riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints.” WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE?

  36. 1 Cor. 2:9 • “What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.”

  37. Take another look in the mirror.

  38. Admit that you are a sinner in need of God’s salvation. • “Believewith your heart”, and • “Confesswith your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord.’ ” ---Salvation is not complicated.

  39. THE ROMAN ROAD Romans 3:23— “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

  40. Romans 5:8– “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

  41. Romans 6:23– “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  42. “That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” • “For it is withyour heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.” • “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:8-13

  43. Admit that you are a sinner in need of God’s salvation. • “Believewith your heart”, and • “Confesswith your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord.’ ” ---Salvation is not complicated.

  44. 2 Cor. 5:17--- “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he as a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!”
