  2. Physical description There are two humuhumunukunukuapu’a .one is greenish grey and the other is light brown. The reef triggerfish grows to 6to12 inches . The reef trigger fish has lots of stripes. The reef triggerfish has blue teeth.

  3. Physical description • The reef trigger fish has a small second spine that locks the first spine, acting like a trigger. • The reef trigger fish has a chubby mouth. • A trigger fish can blow jets of water frim its mouth.

  4. Physical description • The reef trigger fish has razor sharp teeth and powerful jaws. • The reef trigger fish dorsal (top) spine and distinctive color pattern easy to spot.

  5. Habitat the reef trigger fish prefers shallow protected salt water. They feed on plants and animals on the see bottom. the reef trigger fish is found in coral reefs of Hawaii.

  8. Did it harm other speicies? Or is it harmed by other species? • When the female gaurds its nest, it can be very aggressive, even to humans. • The reef trigger fish is highly toxic. • The reef trigger fish are aggressive and attack if threatened , divers have bean bitten.

  9. How is it important to hawaiians • Though toxic hawaiians knew how to prepare and eat the reef trigger fish. • Hawaiians thought it was 2 level food. • The reeef trigger fish were used as subsitutes for pigs end. • Hawaiians did not care for the reef trigger fishes taste.

  10. Other cool facts • nukunukuapua’a means nose like a pig. • When the fish is pulled out of the water they make a grunting sound like a pig. • The eyes of the reef trigger fish are so far back that it can eat see urchins without getting poked in the eye.

  11. Other cool facts • The reef trigger fish is a favor for saltwater tanks. • Aquarists feed the reef trigger fish by hand. They alsogreet you when you go by the tank.

  12. Other cool facts • The reef trigger fish can fade its scale colors when it feels threatened , or sleeps. • It sleeps on its side at night. • On May 2nd 2006 the reef trigger fish was made Hawaiis state fish.
