  2. The standards directly relate to the needs of adult learners by promoting learning, exploration, and self-reflection through the use of technology(ISTE ,2012). • The standards also help build technical skills that prepare students of all ages to “work, live and contribute to the social and civic fabric of their communities(ISTE, 2012). • ISTE Standards promote the use of social media style technological tools such as Edmodo, Skype, and ePals to: • Communicate information to broad audiences. • Engage and learn from other cultures. • Produce and publish work with others. Improving Facilitation through technology standards • K-12 Standards and Adult Learners • ISTE Standards, Communication, and Collaboration • Transforming education through ISTE Standards. • (Summary) • Transformation of educational technology • Educational tools such as Edmodo, Educreations, and Schoology are safe and reliable technological tools that have integrated themselves into and transformed contemporary classrooms by there ability to: • Maximizing content learning (ISTE, 2012). • Communicate relevant information to students, parents, and peers (ISTE, 2012). • Allow teachers to model and facilitate effective use of emerging digital tools. • “Schools should be the place that prepare students for the world of tomorrow, with the best tools of today. Schools should use real-world technology that allows students to grapple with real-world problems—so they can compete in a globally competitive economy”(Committee on education & The Workforce Democrats, 2014). The ISTE standards transform education to do just that. They provide the education system with the guidance needed to evolve and grow.
