  1. SPACE TECHNOLOGY Space technology is technology that is related to entering, and retrieving objects or life forms from space. "Every day" technologies such as weather forecasting, remote sensing, GPSsystems, satellite television, and some long distance communications systems critically rely on space infrastructure.

  2. SPACE TECHNOLOGY Computers and telemetry were once leading edge technologies that might have been considered "space technology" because of their criticality to boosters and spacecraft. While still used today in spacecraft and missiles, the more prosaic applications such as remote monitoring (via telemetry) of patients, water plants, highway conditions, etc. and the widespread use of computers far surpasses their space applications in quantity and variety of application.

  3. SPACE TECHNOLOGY SPECIFIC SPACE TECHNOLOGIES Ablative heat shield Aerobot (Planetary probe suspended in atmosphere.) Atmospheric braking Centrifuge Gantry Human staffed missions Rocket sled Rover Lunar Rover Mars Rover

  4. SPACE TECHNOLOGY Satellite Communication satellite Earth observation satellite Navigation satellite Satellite television Telecommunications satellite Weather satellite

  5. SPACE TECHNOLOGY FUTURE SPACE TECHNOLOGIES Asteroid mining Single stage to orbit Solar power satellite Non-rocket space launch Space manufacturing

  6. SPACE TECHNOLOGY SPACE TECHNOLOGY IN INDIA India has matured in developing its own technology for developing the national infrastructure, especially, in the areas of communication, education, broadcasting, meteorology, disaster management, and resource monitoring.

  7. SPACE TECHNOLOGY A major milestone in the Programme of space activities is the launch of GSLV-D1, on April 18, 2001.  In 2003, INSAT 3 A (April 9), GSAT 2 (May 8) and INSAT 3 E (Sept 27) were successfully launched.  In terms of human lifespan, the space age that began with the launch of SPUTNIK-1, the world’s first artificial satellite, would count as comfortably middle-aged.

  8. SPACE TECHNOLOGY Almost a quarter of a century after it sent its first man into space, India is getting ready to put another person into a spacecraft—this time on its own. The Indian Space Research Organisation’s Chandrayaan I lifts off for the Moon from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at SRIHARIKOTA on April 9, 2008 - give or take a day or two depending on the weather

  9. SPACE TECHNOLOGY India will put a constellation of seven satellites into a geo-synchronous orbit in the next six years to create a comprehensive navigational system for the South Asian region, ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair. The Indian Space Research Organisation chairman, Dr G Madhavan Nair, said India’s Moon mission has renewed interest in the international scientific community about the celestial body.

  10. SPACE TECHNOLOGY “Our GSLV can take a 500 kg spacecraft to the Martian orbit” The Indian Space Research Organization is planning to launch the GSAT-6 satellite which will provide a direct link to mobile handsets.

  11. SPACE TECHNOLOGY Space is such an alien environment that attempting to work in it requires new techniques and knowledge. New technologies originating with or accelerated by space-related endeavors are often subsequently exploited in other economic activities. Self-reliance in space technology has been an important target of the programme.
