  1. Neutrophils protein synthesis dysfunction in community acquired pneumonia Mishlanov V.Ju., Perm, 2013

  2. Actuality • Neutrophils synthesize some antimicrobic peptides, such as defensins, cathelicidines et all. • Defensins are small Cysteine-rich cationicproteins

  3. Methods Scheme of leukocytes protein-lipid complexes release activity Protein 3-LA Neutrophil Cholesterol

  4. Method of lipid release leukocytes ability (LRLA) measurement 100 mcl 50 mcl 400 mcl Any devices for cholesterol or defensins concentration determination

  5. Leukocytes lipid release ability in healthy people of different ages

  6. Some proteins and peptides synthesized by Neutrophils

  7. Defensins synthesis in elderly patients

  8. The aim of the study • Investigate neutrophils protein synthesis in community acquired pneumonia patients

  9. Material of the Study • 52 CAP patients were examined, • 25 – male, 27 - female; • age 20-60 yrs., mean age 40,3; • 35 – with non-severe and • 17 – with severe pneumonia

  10. Clinical characteristics

  11. Age depending LRLA in CAP patients and healthy people

  12. LRLA in nonsmokers CAP patients at the age of 21-40 yrs in accordance with the severity of the disease

  13. LRLA dynamics according to CAP phase

  14. LRLA in smokers and nonsmokers with CAP

  15. LRLA in CAP and LTB patients (mmol/l)

  16. Conclusion • The results of the study showed significant antimicrobial peptides neutrophils synthesis dysfunction in community acquired pneumonia patients • This dysfunction usually was revealed in patients aged after 40 yrs., with severe course of CAP and with lung tuberculosis

  17. Hypotesis • Antimicrobial peptides synthesis neutrophils dysfunction is one of the basic mechanisms of acute microbial respiratory pathology • This mechanism is released only in organ tissue, but not in bloodstream, and it may be revealed by cultural diagnostic technique
