  2. Excel – Formulas • Formulas are calculation expressions • Starts with a “=” • The formula expression is shown in the formula bar but the formula result is shown in worksheet • Examples CPSC 203 Tutorials by Jie Gao

  3. Excel – Functions • Functions are predefined formulas • They are organized in categories • Use the “Paste function” button or “Insert  Function” menu • Choose function • Provide arguments • Input by hand • Pick by mouse CPSC 203 Tutorials by Jie Gao

  4. Show Formulas • By default the spreadsheets only show formula results • Formula expressions can be shown in spreadsheets • Menu Tools  Options, View tab, check option Formulas • Uncheck it to return to formula result view CPSC 203 Tutorials by Jie Gao

  8. Excel – Tricks in Chart Wizard • Select source data range before starting the wizard • Specify the series names and labels by cell references • Make use of the preview CPSC 203 Tutorials by Jie Gao
