  3. “El presenteprogresivo” • The present progressive is used in Spanish to explain what is happening at this very moment. It is similar to English. Examples: I am talking to the class. Pablo is taking notes. We are learning Spanish.

  4. How the present progressive works… Like the title it has TWO PARTS. PART ONE IS ESTAR Estar- to be YoestoyNosotrosestamos Túestás Ud./ella/élestáUds./ellos/ellasestán

  5. PART TWO: THE VERB (-ing)What are you doing? If it is an “AR” verb Take off the AR and add –ando Tomar = tomando If it is an “ER/IR” verb Take off the ER/IR and add –iendo Aprender= aprendiendo

  6. If the subject changes, only “estar” changes! Ellaestátomandoapuntes. She is taking notes. Ellosestántomandoapuntes. They are taking notes. Nosotrosestamostomandoapuntes. We are taking notes.

  7. I FREAK OUT! • When the stem of an -eror -irverb ends in a vowel change the -iendoto -yendo. When the “I” is surrounded by vowels it FREAKS OUT and changes to a “y” Leer- leiendoleyendo Traer- traiendotrayendo
