  4. Updating the MTDB • A recent example of a major operation providing updates to the MTDB was the 2009 Address Canvassing Operation. More than 140,000 enumerators collected addresses in the field as well as spatial information. More than 2.7 million updates including 623,000 added road features and 758,000 deleted road features were submitted for processing. • The Geo processed the updates through the Batch Features Update System (BFUS)

  8. Feature Add Issues Of all added features: • 53.4% were automatically added to the MTdb. • 20.7% were added to the MTdb after review. • 26.0% were reviewed interactively, of these: - one half were rejected as unnecessary updates (13% of all road feature adds)

  9. What is GATRES? • GATRES is the interactive COTS software tool that allows the user to create, modify, and view boundaries, linear features, address ranges, areal features, etc., in the MTDB. • GATRES is “A Work in Progress” • Additional functionality will be available in future releases

Summary • The MTDB is updated • from a variety of ongoing update operations including BAS and ACS. • by a variety of update methods including interactive and batch updates derived from field update instrument capture, partner provided files, interactive targeted updates, edit reconciliation, etc. • using the Batch Feature Update Software and the GATRES software in combination with edits, local files, field updates, office updates using a variety of devices and software.
