  1. It is essential for us to have a sparkling white and healthy looking gums and teeth. Because these factors do not only imply that our mouth is healthy but it also shows that our overall health is in great condition. Although the majority of us have the same goal on our oral health, we cannot deny the fact that many are still negligent and does not really care about their oral health.

  2. This should stop and people should change, because oral health negligence can result in much greater problems such as oral cancers, gum disease and infection that could cost them their teeth and even their life. Many dental practitioners and clinics like dentist san clemente believes that they are many ways of fighting oral problems and some of these are simple and can be done at homes such as flossing and brushing. But aside from these practices, we should not underestimate the power of “food” for they are certain foods that are known to be a great oral crime buster such as:

  3. Seeds and Nuts (Brazilian Nuts, Sesame Seeds) These foods are a great source of what we call as “plant-based proteins” and they are also filled with powerful micronutrients which include calcium. We are aware that calcium is important in keeping our bones strong and this is the same importance of calcium on our teeth.

  4. Tea (Green Tea) This beverage contains compounds called “catechins” that are known to fight bacterial infection and inflammation. Due to this compound, green tea drinkers for a long time have a small chance of attaining periodontal diseases compared to those who are not fond of drinking tea.

  5. Citrus Fruits (Kiwis and Strawberries) Vitamin C is not only important for our immune system but it is also essential for our oral health because it prevents collagen on the gum tissues from breaking down. Without the presence of collagen, our gums become much tender make it very vulnerable to oral diseases. Among all the citrus fruits, kiwi and strawberries have the highest concentrated vitamin C.

  6. Onions We have been using onions in cooking as it enhances the flavor of any meal. Although many are not delighted of eating onions, we should consider because raw onions are boasting with powerful enzymes from its antimicrobial sulfur-containing compounds that could fight bacteria. For those who cannot eat a raw onion alone, they could mix it up with their salad.

  7. Fibrous Foods (Celery and Apples) These foods are rich with water due to this they can easily stimulate saliva production which minimizes the presence of bacteria in the mouth. Aside from its watery compound, these fiber-rich foods also have a scrubbing effect that could clean the surface of the teeth as they are being eaten.
