  3. God is in Control • (Psalms 2:7-11 NKJV) “I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. {8} Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.

  4. God is in Control • (Revelation 2:27 NKJV) ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’; as I also have received from My Father;

  5. God is in Control • (Revelation 19:15-16 NKJV) Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. {16} And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? {22} It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.

God is in Control • {23} He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless. {24} Scarcely shall they be planted, Scarcely shall they be sown, Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, When He will also blow on them, And they will wither, And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble.

  11. God is in Control • (1 Timothy 2:1-2 NKJV) Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, {2} for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

  15. God is in Control • We need to learn that prayer is far more than just asking God for things we need! If you made a pie chart of these three, praise, confession, petition and intercession, what would it look like?

  16. What is Really Important to Us? • Let us see from example what God can do through one man who intercedes.

So the fire of the LORD burned among them, and consumed some in the outskirts of the camp. {2} Then the people cried out to Moses, and when Moses prayed to the LORD, the fire was quenched.

Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the congregation. {20} And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, {21} “Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.”

The Power of the Intercessor • (Numbers 16:42-49 NKJV) Now it happened, when the congregation had gathered against Moses and Aaron, that they turned toward the tabernacle of meeting; and suddenly the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared. {43} Then Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of meeting.

  31. The Power of the Intercessor • {44} And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, {45} “Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.” And they fell on their faces.

  32. The Power of the Intercessor • {46} So Moses said to Aaron, “Take a censer and put fire in it from the altar, put incense on it, and take it quickly to the congregation and make atonement for them; for wrath has gone out from the LORD. The plague has begun.”

  33. The Power of the Intercessor • {47} Then Aaron took it as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the assembly; and already the plague had begun among the people. So he put in the incense and made atonement for the people. {48} And he stood between the dead and the living; so the plague was stopped.

For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”

The Power of the Intercessor • {6} So the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and many of the people of Israel died. {7} Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD and against you; pray to the LORD that He take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people.

The Power of the Intercessor • {8} Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live.” {9} So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

For your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have corrupted themselves. {8} “They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them. They have made themselves a molded calf, and worshiped it and sacrificed to it, and said, ‘This is your god, O Israel, that brought you out of the land of Egypt!’”

  41. The Power of the Intercessor • {9} And the LORD said to Moses, “I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people! {10} “Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation.”

  42. The Power of the Intercessor • {11} Then Moses pleaded with the LORD his God, and said: “LORD, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

  43. The Power of the Intercessor • {12} “Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, ‘He brought them out to harm them, to kill them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce wrath, and relent from this harm to Your people.

The Power of the Intercessor • {13} “Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’” {14} So the LORD relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.

The Power of the Intercessor • (Numbers 12:1-2 NKJV) Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman. {2} So they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the LORD heard it.

Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper. {11} So Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.
