SuperOp 1999: IMTC's 3rd Event for Interoperability Testing in Honolulu, Hawaii

The IMTC held its 3rd SuperOp Event from September 12-17, 1999, at the Hotel Hawaiian Village in Honolulu, Hawaii. This event marked the first TIPHON testing at SuperOp, where all IMTC activity groups came together. Key activities included CoIP conferencing over IP (H.323), networking services (H.320), and switched conferencing (H.324). Over 300 engineers from 98 companies participated, with 153 test teams involved in testing interoperability standards. Challenges were discussed, such as registration issues and standard interpretations. Upcoming events are planned for later in 1999 and early 2000.

  7. Problems detected • Fast Connect • - early adoption phase • - different interpretations of the standard around • Registration with Gatekeepers (Alias, Prefix) • Keep Alive Messages • Dial number format for outgoing Setup to GW

  8. How to solve problems ? • Encourage engineers to provide feedback • Make the standards less miss interpretable • Reduce the number of options by e.g. generating a TIPHON profile • Specify more parameters in tests specification
