  2. Introit Shine, Jesus, shine; fill this land with the Holy Ghost. Blaze, Spirit blaze; set our hearts on fire. Flow, River, flow; flood the nations with grace and mercy. Send forth Your Word, Lord, and let there be light.

  3. OPENING HYMN # 293 (black hymnal) “Sweet, Sweet Spirit”

  4. CALL TO WORSHIP Reader #1: Fire! Reader #2: Where? Reader #3: Fire! Reader #4: All around us, but it doesn’t burn! Reader #1: The wind wasn’t destructive either. Reader #2: Things have changed. Reader #3: Yes! We feel different too. Reader #4: So do we. The Lord is here! ALL: Yes! The Lord is here in a special way.

  5. CALL TO WORSHIP Loudly Reader #1: Praise the Lord! Along with Reader #2: Praise Jesus! With Emphasis Reader #3: Power! Reader #4: The Holy Spirit the Comforter. Reader #1: Holy Spirit — Comforter. Reader #2: Holy Spirit —Strengthener. Reader #3: Holy Spirit — Guide. Reader #4: Holy Spirit — Truth. ALL: The Spirit is here with us now! Praise be to God — praise be to God!

  6. CALL TO WORSHIP Reader #1: We’re not frightened — ALL: Power from God! Reader #2: We’re not nervous. ALL: Strength from God! Reader #3: We’re not afraid. ALL: Guidance from God! Reader #4: We’re not worried. ALL: Truth from God! [Pause] ALL: The Holy Spirit has come - the Spirit is with us now! Very loud ALL: We must tell everyone! SHOUTING ALL: Unlock the doors. It’s time for action!

  7. INVOCATION - (in unison) O Holy Spirit, Love of God, infuse your grace, and descend plentifully into my heart. Enlighten the dark corners of this neglected dwelling, and scatter there your cheerful beams; Dwell in that soul that longs to be your temple; water that barren soil, over-run with weeds and briars,and lost for want of cultivating, and make it fruitful with your dew from heaven.

  8. INVOCATION (unison) O Come, as the refreshment of those that languish and faint. Come, and like a star, guide those that sail the tempestuous sea of the world. You are the only haven of the tossed and shipwrecked.Come glory and crown of the living, only safeguard of the dying. Come, Holy Spirit, in much mercy, and make us fit to receive you. Amen.

  15. PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER Father/Mother, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

  17. Prayer of Dedication We dedicate these gifts and our lives to you, O God, in thanksgiving for your great gift of Jesus in whom we know an inner peace which is beyond our human understanding. Strengthen and empower us with the Holy Spirit to be bearers of this peace wherever we go. This we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen
