RECOGNITION, VALIDATION AND CERTIFICATION OF COMPETENCESBasic and Secondary Education Level • GUARDIANSHIP:NATIONAL AGENCY FOR THE QUALIFICATION(organism with double guardianship - Ministry of the Education and the Ministry of the Work) • BEGINNING OF THE SYSTEM: 2001 • GOALS: SCHOOL CERTIFICATION • NAME OF SYSTEM: New Chances Centres

RECOGNITION, VALIDATION AND CERTIFICATION OF COMPETENCESBasic and Secondary Education Level • The national network is constituted by 226 Centres • Promoted for public institutions (e.g. schools) and private (e.g. associations, companies) • These Centres allow academic certification to be awarded to individuals over 18 years old who did not complete the 12th year of schooling

RECOGNITION, VALIDATION AND CERTIFICATION OF COMPETENCESBasic and Secondary Education Level • The certificates awarded are entitled B1 (4th school year), B2 (6th school year), B3 (9th school year) and B4 (12th school year) • The process is based in a Referential of competences key • Competences key of Basic Level: Mathematics for the Life; Language and Communication; Technologies of the Information and Communication; Citizenship and Employability

RECOGNITION, VALIDATION AND CERTIFICATION OF COMPETENCESBasic and Secondary Education Level • Competences key secondary level: Citizenship and Professionality; Society, Technologies and Science; Language, Culture and Communication • Team of the Centers: (Coordinator, RVC Professional, RVC trainer, and secretariat)

RECOGNITION, VALIDATION AND CERTIFICATION OF COMPETENCESVocational Education • NAME OF SYSTEM: New Chances Centres-Professional • The national network is constituted by 43 Centres (it allows the certification in 16 professions) • GOALS: PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION, in some cases*, the double certification (school and professional) • Promoted for public institutions (Centres of Professional Training) • BEGINNING OF THE SYSTEM: 2006
