  2. 43 youth between the ages of 14-21 interviewed and/or observed • Kipke and Iverson’s (1997) study of homeless youth in Los Angeles, found that “unaccompanied” youth make up between 4,800 and 10,000 of the homeless in any given night in Los Angeles County. • One third of the homeless adolescents identified as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered. • Kipke, M. and Iverson, E.
