  1. 9 X Table I will show you how you can use your hands to help you with your 9X table

  2. 1 X 9 = 9 • Bend your thumb for 1 X 9. Each finger to the right of the bent finger is worth 1. There are 9 units (1’s) to the right, so 1 X 9 = 9

  3. 2 X 9 = 18 • Bend your second finger from the left for 2 X 9. Remember – all fingers to the right are worth 1. All fingers to the left are worth 10. So, 10 + 8 = 18. 2 X 9 = 18

  4. 3 X 9 = 27 • Bend your 3rd finger for 3 X 9. Remember – 10’s to the left, 1’s to the right. 2 tens + 7 ones = 20 + 7 = 27. 3 X 9 = 27

  5. 4 X 9 = ? • Remember – bend your 4th finger from the left for 4 X 9. • How many tens to the left? • How many 1’s to the right? • What is the answer? • 4 X 9 = ?

  6. 4 X 9 = 36 • Did you get the right answer? • 3 tens to the left = 30 • 6 ones to the right = 6 • 30 + 6 = 36 • 4 X 9 = 36

  7. 5 X 9 = ? • You try! • 5 x 9 = ?

  8. 5 X 9 = 45

  9. 6 X 9 = ? • Don’t forget – bend your 6th finger for 6X9. 3 2 4 1 5 6

  10. 6 X 9 = 54 • 5 tens • 4 ones • 50 + 4 = 54 • Were you right? 54

  11. 7 X 9 = 63 7 6 x 10 = 60 3 x 1 = 3 60 + 3 = 63

  12. 8 X 9 = 72

  13. 9 X 9 = ?

  14. That’s right! 9 X 9 = 81 80 + 1 = 81

  15. 10 X 9 = ? That’s a hard one!

  16. 10 X 9 = 90 What are your hands doing now?
