Mark Hemstreet: Honored as an Outstanding Employer Early on in his life, Mark Hemstreet dreamed of developing the largest and finest independently owned and operated hospitality company in the Western United States. His dream quickly came to fruition when he opened the first Shilo Inn Suites in 1974 and grew to as many as 47 Shilo Inn hotel properties. Today the chain of hotels consists of 20 properties and 13 restaurants located across six western states and Texas. Outstanding Employer The Shilo Inn Suites properties consist of more than 2,400 rooms and provide more than 350 full-time jobs to local residents. Mr. Hemstreet's continued commitment to providing value-added “Affordable Excellence” has twice earned him the honor of being named one of Oregon’s top 150 quality, and privately held companies by the Oregon Business Magazine and U.S. Bank.
