What is the drug maraviroc used for?

Maraviroc is a prescription medicinal drug used in the therapy of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. It is categorised as a CCR5 antagonist, which means it works by blockading the CCR5 receptor, a protein on the surface of positive cells, through which HIV enters and infects cells.
