  6. Internal IM Network Additional Comments I like SPARK. I can't seem to get it to work from home though, not that I want to work from home, but it would be nice if it worked. I am very happy to see the use of IM in the workplace. It facilitates synchronous communication and lowers the barrier to contact someone at work. Email and phone seem more formal. Ian, i have it and open it every day but rarely get messages. I've only initiated messages once or twice. it is easier to send an email or just walk over to their desk I didn't answer the "Why do you NOT use IM..." because I do use it quite often. I use skype and oovoo to have work-related meetings with people both regionally and nationally. It is effective and economical. Thank you! hi Ian - i use e-mail almost always. i'm use to it and it seems fine Why can't I just pick up the phone and call, send an email, or walk over to speak with them??? What is so hard about that???

Internal IM Network - Issues Other usage notes IM tends to build on existing relationships It’s okay to have someone to wait Useful for conversations that may have breaks in the discussion For many, its not as disruptive as FTF or phone conversations (according to published studies) Easier to negotiate the other person’s availability to talk

E-Resource Issues Form Not For • System breakdown – i.e. cannot access databases at all • SFX linking problems via SFX menu – please use the Error Reporting Form on the SFX menu “this form generates an e-mail to Steve & Chris plus it sends the OpenURL with the citation and lets us know what database the search started in.”
