  1. Chronic pulmonary heart disease

  2. Chronic pulmonary heart disease Chronic pulmonary Heart disease resulting from a lung (pulmonary) disorder. A complication of lung disorders where the blood flow into the lungs is slowed or blocked causing increased lung pressure. The right side of the heart has to pump harder to push against the increased pressure and this can lead to enlargement of the heart muscle and other problems. Finally, congestive heart failure of the right side of the heart can result.

  3. Chronic pulmonary heart disease Typical symptoms and signs: • shortness of breath and difficulty breathing • palpitations felt as an irregular, fluttering or skipping heartbeat • chest pain • cyanosis or a bluish discolouration of the lip and fingertips • swelling in the lower legs and feet

  4. Chronic pulmonary heart disease Diagnosis: • Chronic lungs disorder and related symptoms. • Heart function disorder and related symptoms.

  5. Chronic pulmonary heart disease Treatment • Elimination of the cause is the most important intervention. Smoking must be stopped, exposure to dust, household smoke and to cold weather is avoided. • If there is evidence of respiratory infection, it should be treated with appropriate antibiotics after culture and sensitivity. • Oxygen is often required to resolve the shortness of breath. Plus, oxygen to the lungs also helps relax the blood vessels and eases right heart failure.

  6. Chronic pulmonary heart disease Prevent: • Living a healthy lifestyle is the best defense against pulmonary heart disease. Because this disease stems from lung issues, it is important to avoid things that can affect your lungs. This means not smoking, and exercising regularly. • Because lung problems are sometimes unpreventable (like sleep apnea, or cystic fibrosis, for example) it is important to monitor yourself for symptoms of pulmonary heart disease if you know you suffer from any lung complications.
