Oxford Art Online is the gateway to the multi-award winning Grove Art Online - the ultimate authority on all aspects of visual arts worldwide - from prehistory to the present day. • Grove Art Online contains more than 48,000 signed articles, over 22,000 biographies, over 6,000 art images and over 40,000 editorially selected image links to museums and galleriesproviding essential visual support for art history scholarship. The site gives access to the entire content of the print edition of Grove Art as well as other titles. www.oxfordartonline.com

  5. monet To look for information on an artist, an artistic movement, art in a particular country, a subject such as floors or gardens, or even artistic materials, simply type into the box at the top right. www.oxfordartonline.com

  6. Click on an imageto expand it. This is the main article on Claude Monet. If you scroll down the article, you will notice that there are several images embedded in the text.

  7. Click on the Images tab at the top to see all the images on one page. Scroll down this page to see a list of Monet works held in galleries around the world.

  8. waterfall You can search for an image of a particular work directly, even if you do not know the name of the artist or the title.

  9. However, there is a waterfall in the background of the painting. Notice that the word ‘waterfall’ does not appear in the title of this piece.
