  5. A shift in emphasis away from:- Having students learn a specific set body of content in a subject area. Towards:- a stronger focus on the skills and qualities required to facilitate independent life-long learning.

  6. NZ Curriculum Vision statement Students will need 21st century skills to enable them to be “confident, connected, actively involved, lifelong learners”(Ministry of Education, 2007, p.7.)
