UC Berkeley CS160 Semester Year User Interface Design BetaPro Kevin Liang Juntao Mao KeyvanNajafzadeh Mia Kissick http://www.androidians.comuf.com/ Beta Testing Reinvented Problem Application developers need to properly beta test their application before launching to the Google Play Store. Asking friends and connections to beta test is almost never sufficient enough to be released. Target User Android OS application developers will use BetaPro. Regular consumers who would like to make some quick cash or are professional reviewers will also use Beta Pro. The two images is an example one major design evolution. The navigation bar confused many test users and we finally simplified it down to just 3 tabs. Solution Android app developers can use BetaPro to sufficiently test their draft application. Upon getting feedback, the application can be reposted with its newer version until the developer is confident enough to launch to the Google Play Store. Design Evolution We began with simple low fidelity prototyping and used myBalsamic to get questions answered. Later we began to code our prototype and tested. We repeated this process several times to make sure our design was optimized to what the user is expecting from our app. The above images are screenshots of our application. The top left image is an image of the uploading process where developers upload their applications. The middle image is where the reviewer gets to browse certain apps to review. The top right image displays a developer paying a reviewer for a good quality review. Final Prototype After testing and redoing the user interface, we have finally designed something with a minimalistic design. Our interface has now been simplified greatly, while maintaining functionality. Buttons have been named appropriately and we have utilized smooth UI tools such as sliders, and dialog boxes. Finally we styled our app to make it look much more aesthetically pleasing. In the future, we plan to have the app fully integrated with a web interface. This is another example of a poor review due to lack of beta testing. If this review was in BetaPro, the developer would have this fixed easily without a bad start on the Google Play Store. This is an image of a better review. Hopefully the developer can start out with more than one star after using our application and also have consumers take the app more seriously.
