WHAT IS LAKEVIEWS? • Response to COA • Federal/Provincial agreement guided by vision of a • “healthy, prosperous, & sustainable Great Lakes Ecosystem”for present & future generations” • Signed by 8 Federal Departments, 3 Provincial Ministries • Establishes: • priorities, goals, & results for enhancement & conservation of Basin Ecosystem • management strategies required to achieve these goals • roles and responsibilities of each party • commitment to report regularly and publicly • Key Principals: • Free Exchange of Information • data will be collected once, closest to the source, in the most efficient manner possible and will be shared

WHAT IS LAKEVIEWS? • Response to COA Annex 4: • Develop an information management system for tracking environmental change & progress • Parties will ensure accurate and timely information on environmental progress by achieving: • Scientific data & information shared among government, organizations, and basin residents • Canada & Ontario will: • Develop and maintain information management system framework for COA • Provide public access to monitoring information through the internet and published reports
