  1. Church Based Daycare Presented By: Melissa Stoner, Tracy Roach, Shirley Gunderman, and Emily Anderson

  2. Double Springs Baptist Church’s History • The children’s center officially opened on September 8, 1997. • Grace Green served as the first acting director until October 1997. • Many directors followed Grace until the current directors, Jody and Staci Yopp took over in 2000.

  3. Purpose of Daycare • To provide for the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and physical needs of infant and pre-school children.

  4. Teacher Requirements • Demonstrate and teach Christian love to help the children develop self-worth and a love for others. • Obtain 20 clock hours of in service training each year. • The lead teachers are required to receive their Early Childhood Credentials.

  5. Child Development • Each child comes in contact with adults and children who provide growth opportunities in personal interaction and encourage discoveries and thought that will permit the expression of feelings and ideas.

  6. Religious Development • Each child is lead in his or her spiritual development to experience God in all of life. Bible stories and songs are integrated into the curriculum.

  7. Health and Medical • Prior to enrollment, medical forms must be signed by the child’s physician and filed with the director. • Each child’s immunization record must be kept up to date. • As each child receives immunizations, it must be brought to the director and recorded.

  8. Parent Involvement • Parents are encouraged to participate in special day activities. • It is their belief that they do not minister to the child alone, but to the entire family, so therefore they encourage attendance at parent group meetings and invite everyone to attend church services as well.

  9. Discipline • No corporal punishment such as shaking, pushing, shoving, slapping, pinching, biting, kicking or spanking is used for discipline. • If necessary, time out may be used, but love is always reinforced. • If the problem cannot be resolved by the staff, the child will be removed from the Children’s Center.

  10. Other Information • Ages: 6 weeks to 5 years • Hours: Mon.-Fri. 7:00a.m. to 6:00 p.m. • Location: On church premises
