  11. Common Issues • After installing EndNote and opening Microsoft Word, I do not see the EndNote toolbar or commands under the Tools menu. How can I fix this? • Instead of seeing my regular citations, I'm seeing strange code, which looks something like { ADDIN EN.CITE <EndNote><Cite><Year>}... What can I do to fix this?

  15. Introduction of EndNote A software that: • stores and organizes citations found from many sources • inserts these citations into a Word document, and • automatically format your references according to a predefined citation style

  24. Direct Export • “One click” export directly from database. • Usually button says “Send to EndNote/RefMan/Procite”, “direct export” or similar. • When file is downloaded, in file dialogue box select “open” instead of “save”.

Manual Inputting • Open an EndNote Library • Click on Reference • Click on New Reference • At the Reference Type drop-down menu, select the correct template for the reference to be input (i.e. Journal article, conference paper, etc.) • Begin inputting • Complete and close EndNote Library • Note: For joint authors, press the enter key after inputting each author’s name
