In order to run the Summer School Census 2014, please ensure you have upgraded to the SIMS 7.156 Spring 2014 release • Booklets from Capita with essential information and helpful tips
SIMS 2014 Release Schedule Provisional Dates for 2014 • Summer release – end of June, to be installed before mid August (A-Level and GCSE Exams results issues) and before Autumn Census • New SEN codes and School Lunches • Autumn release – beginning of November, to be installed before January census
SOLUS 3 • SOLUS (SIMS Online Update Service) allows you to automatically perform SIMS upgrades on a workstation without intervention • SIMS support providers may have already installed SOLUS 3 or will be booking this with you for over the summer – do check with your support provider to confirm • Other System upgrade implications – SQL 2008/2008 R2, SQL 2012?
SOLUS 3 • updates can be easily scheduled allowing you to control when you want the upgrade • the entire SIMS system can be upgraded without end-user SIMS user involvement • SIMS client software can be installed remotely, reducing the need for a workstation visit and saving support time • improved reporting, helping the deployment manager to identify any potential issues and resolve them before any impact is felt • the potential for support providers to manage SIMS updates remotely for their supported schools
Capita Remote Access The steps to ensure Capita can provide efficient support to remote services are as follows: • Contact Atomwide at https://support.atomwide.com • Purchase the OTP tags from Atomwide • On delivery follow the guidelines to Register the Tags • The Head teacher at the school signs the declaration. • Once the signed declaration has been received by Atomwide, the Remote Access category will appear. • Once the declaration has been signed off this will then make the “Remote Access” category visible within Webscreen 2.0, giving the schools the ability to move this into their allowed list. • All remote access is then logged and auditable any issues can be tracked
