  1. Keyboarding We use •All the Right Type (ATRT) Keyboarding Program 6th Grade Goal: 20 wpm, 90% accuracy 7th Grade Goal: 25 wpm, 90% accuracy •Mavis Beacon Keyboarding Program 8th Grade Goal: 30 wpm, 90% accuracy

  2. Body Position • Sit up straight • Feet flat on the floor (if possible) • Face forward • Arms in at side of body (adjust chair so this works for you)

  3. Hand/Finger Position • Fingers on Home Row Fingers positioned with index fingers on “bumps” on the f and j keys • Wrists upraised slightly above keyboard • Fingers curved slightly over home row • Pattern of fingering must be memorized

  4. Finger PositionMove your fingers on the keys on your keyboard to “see” this pattern. Finger Position

  5. Grading • Body Position (except for feet placement) • Finger Position • Accuracy/speed--printouts will give us info • Progress -- need to complete program by end of 1st semester • Memorize keyboard by end of 1st semester

  6. Behavior/Rules • Begin keyboarding as soon as you come into the room. Instructor starts timer as soon as everyone begins keyboarding • Work habits/Attitude • must be working during the time we keyboard • have a good attitude • no need to talk during keyboarding • Follow directions for posture and correct keyboarding rules • Listen for timer to indicate keyboarding time is up • No writing or drawing on or damage to the orange keyboard cover (speedskin).
