  1. “Remember Lot’s Wife!” Luke 17:22-32

  2. Ever been in a rainstorm and had something fall on you other than rain? History records for us some strange raindrops…

  3. The Bible speaks of some strange rains also. One was a downpour of fire and brimstone sent by God to wipe out the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah…

  4. Purpose: by remembering Lot’s wife we can better prepare ourselves for Christ’s return

  5. What Jesus holds before each of us in this text, is our need to be prepared for His return… Lot’s wife stands as a perfect example of how NOT to be prepared…

  6. I Remember She was Lot’s Wife A. She Shared in His Journeys B. She Shared in His Privileges C. She Shared in His Sins

  7. II Remember She Went Part of the Way

  8. Old saying that “close” or “almost” counts only in horseshoes and hand grenades…

  9. II Remember She Went Part of the Way A. She was Almost Willing

  10. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith. In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.”

  11. Revelation 2:10 “… Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”

  12. II Remember She Went Part of the Way A. She was Almost Willing B. She was Almost Saved

  13. Articles and books written along these lines illustrating the distance between one’s heart and head…

  14. III Remember She Perished Through Sin A. She Lingered Behind

  15. Revelation 3:15-16 “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I would that you were cold or hot. So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.”

  16. III Remember She Perished Through Sin A. She Lingered Behind B. She Disbelieved C. She Dared to Look

  17. IV Remember She Received Her Wage A. She Received Her Wage Suddenly B. She Perished in Her Act of Sin

  18. Remember Lot’s wife when tempted to trifle with sin. Remember how swift and sure God dealt out His judgment…

  19. Luke 9:62 “But Jesus said to him, ‘No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.’”

  20. Summary and Conclusion: We too are told in the same sense Mrs. Lot was told not to look back! From such a command are we going to be as presumptuous and defying as was Lot’s wife? Are we going to risk our relationship with Him by giving a lingering, loving glance to the world? Are we going to be caught sleeping when Jesus returns?
