Why and Who is NE-CAN? • Increasing atmospheric CO2 has lead to a more acidic ocean with impacts on the marine environment • OA’s effects have been seen in the shellfish industries on West and East coasts • NE-CAN is a nexus of scientists, federal and state agency representatives, resource managers, and affected industry partners dedicated towards coordinating and guiding regional observing, research, and modeling endeavors NE-CAN is all of us!
The NECAN Process • 16 Webinars from November 2013 to March 2014 • See www.neracoos.org/necan • State of the Science Workshop, April 10 and 11 • Planning 3 Stakeholder Workshops in ME (Dec. 2014), MA and CT • Implementation Strategy
