  1. Motivation

  2. Motivation is needed in every aspect of our life • Coaches, parents, teachers, employers, all act as motivators • What motivation do we have to serve God?

  3. What motivation is there to become a Christian or live as a Christian? • Peter asked a question that speaks to motivation: “What then will we have?” (Mt. 19:27) • What motivations do we have?

  4. Motivation does not come from entertaining speaking • Motivation does not come from social and recreational activities; fun and games • Motivation comes from sound, biblical admonitions

  5. BLESSINGS are a motivation • We receive all spiritual blessings now (Eph. 1:3; 1 Tim. 4:8): forgiveness / freedom, joy / peace, answered prayer, help praying, help with temptation, biblical guidance, Christian fellowship, etc.

  6. HEAVEN is a motivation • The grandeur and glory of heaven motivate us to want to go there (Jn. 14:1-3; Phil. 3:20-21; Col. 1:5; 3:1; Heb. 4:11; Rev. 21-22)

  7. HELL is a motivation • The horrors of hell motivate us to want to stay away (Mt. 25:41; Mk. 9:43-48; Lk. 16:24; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Rev. 21:8)

  8. THE FAITHFUL are a motivation • The many men and women who have lived and died motivate us to do the same; we can do it just like they did (Heb. 11:13; 12:1; 1 Tim. 1:12-16; 2 Tim. 4:6-8)

  9. YOURSELF is a motivation • You have the ability to live above sin and temptation (Rom. 6:12-14; 1 Cor. 10:13; Eph. 6:11; Jas. 4:7); you have inward strength (Eph. 3:16-17; Phil. 4:13; Col. 1:11); you are fearless (2 Tim. 1:7) and boldness (Heb. 10:19)

  10. LOVE is a motivation • God’s love greatly shown on our behalf (1 Jn. 4:7-11; Rom. 5:8) motivates us to love in return (1 Jn. 4:19 – 5:3)

  11. GOD is a motivation • God’s unchanging character motivates us (Mal. 3:18; Acts 10:35; Rom. 2:11; 8:31-39; 11:22; Tit. 1:2; Heb. 6:10, 18; 10:31; 12:29; 13:5-6; 1 Pet. 1:5)

  12. THE RESURRECTION AND JUDGMENT are a motivation • We all will face God’s coming judgment (Jn. 5:28-29; Rom. 2:3-11; 1 Cor. 15:32; 2 Cor. 4:16 – 5:10; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Heb. 2:3; 9:27)
