  3. What is Hampton Roads Workforce Council (HRWC)? Hampton Roads Workforce Council (HRWC) is your regional Workforce Board providing services, which help jobseekers like you to find employment with the skills you currently have or pay for training that could help you land that next job. Best of all, HRWC services are funded through the US Department of Labor Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) so there is no charge to you for anything we provide. Career Services are delivered through HRWC One-Stop Centers, which are America’s Jobs Centers. These centers are all part of Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Region.

  4. Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Region We are a part of Virginia’s workforce development system has a new brand to help in its quest to put Virginians to work. The master brand, Virginia Career Works, refers to the statewide workforce system as a whole. Virginia’s fifteen workforce regions throughout the state now each have a regional signature that pairs Virginia Career Works with a modifier describing their geographic area. We are Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Region.

Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Region Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Region has one Comprehensive One-Stop and three Affiliate sites. “One-Stops" are places where you can access a full range of assistance in finding employment under one roof. One-Stops offer job listings; employment workshops; computer and internet access; career counseling; training referrals and scholarship funds; and similar employment-related services. Many services are available to anyone looking for a job while others have eligibility requirements.

Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Partners The Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Centers hosts a variety of partner organizations that can provide further assistance depending on your needs. • Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) • Tidewater and Paul D. Camp Community Colleges • Adult Continuing Education/Public Schools • Department of Social Services (DSS) • Department of Aging & Rehabilitative Services (DARS) • Virginia Tidewater Consortium - Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) • American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) • Career Access Network, or CAN Career Centers. Virginia Career Works Hampton Roads Region One-Stop Services Career Services include basic assistance with no eligibility requirement as well as more hands-on assistance like working with a professional career developer. Some eligibility requirements apply for these more enhanced services. Training services include funding and support for skills training needed to find a job. Job Seekers can move from one level to the next or receive services from more than one level, depending on their needs.

Virginia Career Works HR One-Stop Services – Career Services Basic Career Services are available to all adults regardless of their current employment status, work history or special needs to help in self-directed job search activities. Services include:  • Employment Workshops • Resume Writing and Interview Techniques • Career Planning • Job Search Strategies • More: Click to Access the Workshop Calendar • Access to the VCW Resource Room, which is equipped with • A full computer lab with internet access • Laser printers, fax and copier • Labor Market Information and Wage Data • Self-assessment tools • Job leads through a variety of channels, including the HRWC Jobs Board. Virginia Career Works HR One-Stop Services - Career Services Individualized Career services are provided eligible individuals who are having more difficulty obtaining employment or who are underemployed. Services Include: • One-on-One Job Search Assistance with a career developer • Development of Individual Employment Plan • In-depth assessment and Career Guidance • Resume Critique • Mock Interviews • How To Get A Job Workshop • Job Offer Negotiation Techniques • Job Networking Club • Career Readiness Certification

Virginia Career Works HR One-Stop Services - Training Training services are available to individuals who have: • Met the eligibility requirement for intensive. • Are in need of training services. • Have the skills and qualifications to successfully complete the selected training program. Training services are provided through Individual Training Accounts. Clients receive a voucher worth up to $5,000 to purchase training from eligible training providers. Virginia Career Works HR One-Stop Services – Virginia Financial Success Network (VFSN) In addition to traditional skills training, Hampton Roads Workforce Council (HRWC) may also provide assistance to improve your financial stability through the: Virginia Financial Success Network Study (VFSN) The VFSN provides: • Education and Employment Services • Work & Income Supports • Financial & Asset Building Services

  12. Virginia Career Works HRVirginia Financial Success Network (VFSN) The VFSN is open to participants enrolled in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Program. The Virginia Financial Success Network is a program that offers workforce and education services bundled with financial services and supports to eligible customers of selected Virginia Workforce Centers. The goal of the program is to help participants obtain and keep jobs and improve their financial stability. For more information about the VFSN Program in Virginia, you can watch the orientation video or visit the VFSN homepage. If you are interested in participating in the VFSN, please reference the program when you meet with an Hampton Roads Workforce Council (HRWC) representative.

  16. Next Steps - Almost Done! • Complete Intake Application for Services. You can complete all necessary paperwork at the HRWC One-Stop Workforce Center. However, preparing the application ahead of time will speed your application processing. (Common Intake Form) Follow-Up Agreement Form • Visit a One-Stop Workforce Center to review and submit your application. • Walk in times for review are Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 11:30pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm • While at the One-Stop, schedule an appointment for eligibility certification.
