  2. Service and Network Initiative <S&NI> In the Past significant strides have been made to improve key aspects of TMS life-cycle process, by trying to improve the lag between bringing the roll-out of new TMS services <S&NI>

Service and Network Initiative <S&NI> In TMS most of the efforts in the past decade to improve the art of TMS design and development have tackled some of the “accidental complexity”, but have not addressed head-on the “essential complexity” in TMS solutions architecture. Accidental Complexity pertains to difficulties that are manifest in the “current state of practice” but are not inherent. Essential Complexity consists of the difficulties inherent in the nature of software.

  4. Service and Network Initiative <S&NI> In short the key to reducing lag is to “systematically identify, and manage, the fundamental sources of complexity in the initial stages of TMS life cycle for a new service and network initiative”

  5. Service and Network Initiative <S&NI> Aspects of TMS complexity have more to do with how the TMS life-cycle fits into a broader business context. This broader context will be referred to as S&NI life cycle, which is the overall life cycle for bringing new services offerings, carried on new network technology, to market.

This broader context will be referred to as S&NI life cycle, which is the overall life cycle for bringing new services offerings, carried on new network technology, to market.

  7. Service and Network Initiative <S&NI> The relationship between the TMS life-cycle and the S&NI can be understood by this example. In this example we are not focusing on a stand alone TMS, like an element management system. Instead the roll-out of a residential Internet Access Service offering across a metropolitan area, likely consisting of FIVE to NINE TMS applications networked together.

Therefore in such an example our objective is to understand what is required to reduce “The Lag” between • when the network technology and services offerings would otherwise be ready <apart from TMS support> • when realistically possible to roll-out the network technology and services offering in a cost effective manner, complete with TMS solution support.

Service and Network Initiative <S&NI> The Key to streamlining the process of rollout integrated TMS in a timely manner is to strategically evaluate the complete organizational context in which the TMS will live. This includes Organizational Structure, and dynamics of stakeholders in the S&NI life cycle. Shared learning and complete understanding can improve the flow of information and more over can improve the time-to-market
