  1. What Is Brick Pointing? ______________________________________________________________________ brick repair Brooklyn refers to the type of troweling action used to level brick walls. The bricks are troweled, without using any other tools, along the vertical and horizontal joints and walls. Various types of mortar joints in mortar work have a major impact on the aesthetics of the brickwork. Mortar joints also make a big contribution to the appearance of the brickwork - about 14% of the surface area of the trowel bonded work is comprised of these joints. These joints are found at various locations, such as around window sills, on sides and ends of wall extensions, and above the internal floor joists. Most of the joints are made by trowling, either against the bricks or with a spatula. The best trowling position is always right beside the bricks, where the trowler can look down at the bricks without disturbing them. A brick may be positioned at different heights to reach the mortar joint - up to 90 degrees of angle between the brick and the trowler. When trowling against the brick face, the trowler's hands are not just free to move about the work area; they are also able to look down at the bricks, and thus avoid having their hands touch the bricks. However, if there are several bricks to be trowled at once, it is best to stand on top of the brick to make sure that no part of the brick touches the trowler while the trailer is moving. This can be done by placing a cushion of bricks on top of the trowler. When trowling against a wall or floor joist, the trowler should use only one hand to move the trowler along the bricks, using the other hand to grip the bricks. While holding the bricks firmly, the trowler should turn the trowler head in the same direction that the bricks are turning - in order to ensure that the browser makes a circular motion with the trowler's trowling force. The trowler can make a circular motion with up to three different forces, such as up, down, or left and right. When trowling against a brick face, the trowler head needs to be raised as high as possible to reach the mortar joint and the trowler should be at least two feet from the face of the brick face. {in order to prevent the brickface being disturbed by the trowler's trowler head. In this position, the trowler head can be turned in a clockwise motion, to

  2. the side of the brick face, or to the other side of the face of the brick face, and the trowler head should turn clockwise to the same direction, while keeping the face of the brick face in view. When trowling, it is important to avoid leaning over the trowler while trowling against the bricks. Instead, a small amount of movement will be necessary to be able to reach the trowler head. When trowling, the trowler head needs to be pushed back towards the brick face by applying pressure with the hand or with the trowler's trowling power tool in a downward stroke. The trowler should never stop trowling between mortar joints. This is because mortar is one of the most difficult things for a trowler to remove, especially when working with large pieces of mortar. It may be possible to make some damage to the bricks if the browser stops working between mortar joints, especially if the trowler is made of stone or clay, due to the force of the trowler head striking the bricks too hard. It is best to stop trowling between mortar joints and to allow the trowler to work between mortar joints by turning the trowler head in either a clockwise or a counterclockwise direction, while keeping the face of the brick face in view. This ensures that the trowler's trowing force does not accidentally damage the bricks.
