  2. What is Sleep Walking • Sleepwalking, is a sleep behavior disorder characterized by walking or other activities a person engages in while still asleep. • Also referred to as somnambulism

  3. How it Happens • When a person is on deep REM( Rapid Eye Movement) sleep the body releases a chemical that paralyzes the body. • People with this disorder do not have the chemical trigger which leads to a non-REM sleep. • Prone to sleep walking

  4. Factors that play a Role • Environment • Stress • Sleep Deprived • Drugs • Genetic • Twins • Inherited

  5. Continued • Medical conditions • Nighttime asthma • Nighttime seizures • Sleep apnea • Psychological Conditions • Panic attacks • Multiple personality disorder

  7. Conclusion • Sleep walking is a medical disorder • NREM • Relaxation is key • Sleepwalking is a disorder which as of now does not have a cure but steps can be taken to help reduce the frequency of it.
