  2. How To Study • Study your notes • Use the “practice” sentences and any returned tests/quizzes to review identifying certain grammatical principles. • Be able to write a sentence that uses any grammar term that may come up in your study. • Here is some sentence writing practice.

  3. Sentence 1 • Write a sentence with a transitive action verb and a direct object. Circle the verb. Draw a line to the direct object.

  4. Sentence 2 • Write a sentence with a prepositional phrase used as an adverb. Circle the prepositional phrase.

  5. Sentence 3 • Write a sentence with the same word used as both a reflexive and an intensive pronoun.

  6. Sentence 4 • Write a sentence with a linking verb and a subject complement. Circle the linking verb. Draw an arrow to the subject complement.

  7. Sentence 5 • Write a sentence that uses the verb “to smell” twice, as both an action verb and a linking verb.

  8. Sentence 6 • Write a sentence with an adverbial subordinate clause. Underline the clause. Circle the subordinating conjunction.

  9. Sentence 7 • Write a sentence with an adjectival subordinate clause. Underline the clause. Circle the relative pronoun.
