Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5. does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6. does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7. bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8. Love never fails.

  5. The Meaning of Envy Greek = to be filled with jealousy, envy...toward someone. Envy is discontent at the excellence or good fortune of another. Discontent and resentment aroused by desire for the possessions or qualities of another.

  6. KJV“Love envieth not” NKJV “Love does not envy” Williams “Love Never boils with Jealousy” Amplified “Love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy” N.E.B. = “love envies no one” W.N.T. = “Love knows neither envy nor jealousy.” Several have “Love is not jealous”

  7. Envy is a Foolish Sin • Waste of time, energy and emotion • Gives more pain than any other sin. • Most sins have some pleasure but not envy. • “Envy is a poison that I drink in the hope that the other person will die.”

  14. What Generosity can do for us • Love is free from the blight of envy • Love has the opposite which is generosity • Envy wants to take • Love wants to give • Generosity of love is a trait of the soul that says “What is mine is yours also, if you really need it.”
