  4. The giving day is all about motivated action.

  5. This means… • A large % of your donations will come from people who have been motivated PRIOR to the giving day. • The giving tools are there to: • Reduce friction • Accelerate giving • Provide basic affirmations

  6. This does NOT mean… You won’t find completely new donors as a result of the giving day. In fact, organizations who achieve the fastest donations tend to also find the most new donors.

  7. Success Breeds Success The organizations that find themselves near the top of the leaderboard early on tend to stay there as secondary followers look for an organization to support during the giving day.

GET STARTED Set Goals Develop Message Plan Communications • Select a goal appropriate to your organization • $2,000 needed for a project • Expand donor list by 5-10% • Build awareness of organization within the community • Create a message that motivated people to take action • Make it real • Make it shareable • Make it personal • Tactical plan for keeping everyone on task, accountable and on schedule • Develop a campaign communications calendar • Assign roles within the organization • Keep it simple!

Someone within the organization should be responsible for monitoring and responding to Facebook, Twitter and blog comments. Grow likes and follows.   18. Mobilization Create an event. Organizations that plan a time sensitive event tend to win the most incentive prizes. Push for the Prize. Focus your attention on the specific goal you set in front of your advocates (i.e. Most donations before noon). Update and Celebrate! Use social media to regularly update your supporters on your progress and publically thank your donors online.
