So what is a Smarthome? We like to think that a Smarthome is how all electronic components of a housework in unison to make life at home simple. There is a definitely different level of automation security system and when it comes to entry-level, Z-wave cannot be overlooked. Chances are by now you have heard of Z-wave. Sounds fairly new right? Well, Z-wave has been introduced in 2001 by a Danish company Zensys. It took 4 years to gain traction on our side of the pound and there was only 5 product was available at that time. To achieve reliability, it operates far away from the busy Wi-Fi frequency of 2.4 and 5. In America, Z-wave is in the 900 MHz. It also uses a Mesh network so every device talks to each other. It allows wireless control of lights, door lock, appliances and much more. But none of that is achievable without the Hub or the brain.
The Takeaway It is clear that Z-wave is here to stay and is widely getting adopted by a lot of household across the globe. It opens the door t affordable automation era in your home. We do think that Z-wave should be used mostly in retrofit project as we are advocates of the hard-wired system.
The Hub (Security Panel) This is where the security part comes into play. As we mentioned above, the brain controls the network. It’s used not only for control but also as a portal for the outside world. The Lyric Honeywell security panel is just that. An all in one device that regroups all your automation, security and even surveillance camera in one convenient place.
