    2. Traditional New EED 560C (3 units) Reading/Language Arts & ELD 9 weeks Weeks 1-3: 40 Hrs. of O/P Weeks 4-9: 6 weeks of student teaching (M-F) Morning to Lunch Seminar (bi-weekly)

    3. Traditional NEW EED 561F (6 units) 9 weeks of ST Full day, M-F ALL subject areas Two week unit (4-6 lessons) for Science Two week unit (4-6 lessons) for Social Studies Seminar (bi-weekly)

    4. Policy on ST Placements 2 assignments total One in primary & one in upper grades One with ELLs (25%) One with diverse population (25%) 2 university supervisors (one per semester) 2 master teachers (one per semester) 2 schools (one per semester) Within CSUN Service boundaries

    5. ST Procedures Procedures You will receive a call from your university supervisor during 1st or 2nd week of semester meet with university supervisor to review ST requirements & expectations 1st day of ST at school site Meet w/ school principal for an orientation of school (where appropriate) placed in classrooms under master teachers midterm evaluations (student teacher self-evaluation, master teacher & university supervisor) final evaluations (master teacher & university supervisor)

ST Evaluations Criteria for ST Evaluation Making subject matter comprehensible to students Assessing student learning Engaging and supporting students in learning Planning instruction and designing learning experiences for students Creating and maintaining effective environments for student learning Developing as a professional educator

    7. Professional Expectations unwritten rules school marked & unmarked code dress code: dress professionally conduct code: behave in a professional manner at all times be respectful of suggestions/advice from master teacher/university supervisors be accountable Absences: notify school/teacher/university supervisor 24 hours in advance BE PREPARED for daily ST physically, mentally, emotionally, etc.

    8. Supervision Supervision master teacher daily informal evaluation bi-weekly formal evaluation Midterm & final evaluation university supervisor (6-8 visits) bi-weekly formal evaluation Midterm & final evaluation

    9. Student Teaching Evaluation by University Supervisor Number of formal visits & evaluations 5 times by university supervisor Duration of each visit 20-30 minute directed lesson up to follow-up activities (aka. independent activities) 30-60 minute post lesson conference

    10. Student Teaching Evaluation If unsuccessful at midterm: 2 options Drop student teaching immediately with an ACTION PLAN. Action Plan MUST be completed and approved by Mr. Holle before a candidate can repeat student teaching Continue student teaching with the understanding that all weak areas identified MUST be improved to satisfactory level by the end of the semester in order to pass ST. If unsuccessful at final: Candidate will be allowed to WITHDRAW student teaching with an ACTION PLAN. Action Plan MUST be completed and approved by Mr. Holle before a candidate can repeat student teaching.

    11. ST Seminar EED 560C & 561F (same as ST course number) conducted by seminar professor bi-weekly meetings 2 hours per meeting, meeting dates to be announced content: to reflect on pupil learning to reflect on student teaching portfolio development

    12. NOTICE Remember to file for your Credential at the beginning of your 2nd semester student teaching. CCTC will take approximately 3-4 months to process and approve all credentials.
