  2. Student Council Elections Our 3rd - 6th graders listen to speeches for our student council offices. Campaign managers help each candidate by introducing them to the students.

  3. Spirit Days El Sierra students love singing holiday songs in their PJ’s each year! Students get creative on Crazy Sock Day!

  4. Bobcat Fridays Show your school spirit by wearing your Bobcat colors on Fridays! The winning class earns the Bobcat Flag for the week!

  5. Community Service Hats for Hurricane Florence - funds donated to the Red Cross Thanksgiving Food Drive - food donated to the Downers Grove Fish Pantry

  6. Community Service Mitten Tree - all hats, mittens and scarves donated to Family Shelter Services “Soup”er Bowl - food donated to the Downers Grove Fish Pantry

  7. Fundraising Bobcat Boutique sells themed school supplies. Holiday Smencils were also a big hit in December.

  8. Variety Show El Sierra’s Got Talent! We love to show it off each March with our Variety Show!

  9. Recess Leaders Our Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders love it when our 4th, 5th, and 6th graders lead recess games with them every day. This program gives our older students a chance to lead by example and keep our playground safe!

  10. Recess Rodeo Our amazing 6th graders lead by example. During our annual Recess Rodeo, each grade level learns how to play different games at recess when the 6th graders model good sportsmanship and explain all the rules!

  11. PTA Kindergarten Connection Kindergarten families come to El Sierra in August to meet the teacher, principal, and other families. School supplies are dropped off, and friendships are made when our PTA provides a refreshing treat!

  12. PTA New Family Connections Our “veteran” El Sierra families make the extra effort to welcome new El Sierra families to our community. This allows new families a chance to learn about El Sierra from the parent perspective.

  13. PTA Ice Cream Social Every fall, our El Sierra PTA hosts a fun event where families can enjoy a free ice cream treat along with an opportunity to meet other El Sierra families. It is a great way to start the school year!

  14. Caine’s Arcade (Lunchtime Builds) Students have the option to build their cardboard game at home or at school with friends during the popular “lunchtime builds”.

  15. Caine’s Arcade Right before the Fun Run, students pack the gym to play each cardboard game. Students then vote on their favorite game.

  16. Fun Run The El Sierra Fun Run is called the “Bobcat Dash” and it is not only a great fundraiser, but a fun event for our students. The class that raises the most money gets to run the course with Mr. Lynde!

  17. Watch DOGS Pizza Night This annual fall event is a huge hit! Students pack the gym with their dad or with other important male role models to enjoy a fun night of pizza and games. Teachers serve the pizza and the PTA pays for it!

  18. Watch DOGS Wednesdays Every Wednesday at El Sierra is a Watch DOGS Wednesday. This means that a positive male role model spends time with each class to help with math or reading activities. They also help out on the playground and with arrival and dismissal.

  19. Room Parties Our El Sierra PTA loves to plan fun party games for every classroom. Our focus has been to have games that small groups can enjoy along with creative ways to serve fresh fruit and vegetables!

  20. Field Trips El Sierra PTA continuously provides additional field trip for our students.

  21. Educational Programs El Sierra PTA funds as many educational programs as possible throughout the year. This year’s highlight was PebbleGo, an online library research tool.

  22. Breakfast With Santa Our El Sierra PTA brings the El Sierra community together with this annual event! Families love the food, students love the games, face painting, and crafts. Everyone loves Santa though!

  23. Breakfast With Santa Another favorite at this event is story time with the reading of The Polar Express.

  24. PTA Book Fair, Kane County Cougars Our El Sierra PTA loves to promote reading! Each year we have two book fairs and encourage students to earn free Kane County Cougars tickets by reading lots of books!

  25. Book Fairs Each year El Sierra teachers provide a “wish list” of books for their classrooms.
