  1. Deforestation By: Jordan Good Taylor Davis Dustin Lefeber

  2. Deforestation problem • Deforestation is the mass cutting down and removal of all or most trees in a forested area.

  3. Causes • There are many causes. Agriculture and cattle- raising, dams and mega projects, fires, logging, mangroves and shrimp farming, mining, oil and gas, and plantations. • All these industries are expanding and need more room so they are chopping down forest.

  4. Effects: environmental • many plants, animals, and micro- organisms can only survive in forest and without forest they will not survive. • with the lack of biodiversity in the planetary gene pool their could be many consequences which could be fatal to humans • Soil erosion is a effect. • people live and survive in the forest and call it their home and would not be able to survive with out the forest.

  5. Effect: climate change • When the trees are chopped down the moisture is evaporated into the air and the soil goes bad. • without the trees there is no shade to cool the ground and the temperature dramatically rises. • the water is dried up and it goes into a drought

  6. Effect: Social • The forest is homed to many tribes and many people. • When people chop the trees down there are many arguments. • the rainforest provides many aesthetic, recreational, and cultural rewards. If the forest isn’t there then all of it is gone

  7. Solutions • Many countries have started reforesting and some have over come deforestation. • There have been strict laws set on the number trees that can be removed. • wildlife sanctuaries have been set up to save wildlife from deforestation. • The way common people can help is become more environmental friendly and use less tree products. Also recycling will really help a lot.
