  1. Our Lady of Light Catholic Community

  2. Construction of our new 27,000 square foot sanctuary was completed in January 2007.

  3. The Sanctuary seats 1,300 with a side chapel which seats 200. Both the interior and exterior designs have significant liturgical meaning.

  4. Themes of light, water and earth’s natural elements were used through out the main sanctuary. Incorporating the view of the natural preserve allowed a geographical focus of bringing the outdoors in.

  5. The interior sanctuary is constructed in a circular form which is contained in an exterior construction of a square. The forms create a interspersed spaces of light and earth’s natural elements.

  6. The side chapel seats 200 and features a pale blue cross of glass above the altar.

  7. The circle symbolizes infinity with God – the unending circle of life and faith. It represents the Alpha and the Omega – no beginning and no end.

  8. The altar in the center of the worship space reminds us, as Catholics, that the Eucharist and Jesus Christ are at the center of our faith lives.

  9. The back wall, altar steps and baptismal font have been cast from Jerusalem Stone.

  10. Other architectural and design features worth noting are the stained glass windows, Stations of the Cross and the chandelier.

  11. The stained glass windows were designed with the original theme in mind, light, water and earth’s natural elements. The flowing designs of blue and yellow glass are intended to represent sunlight and water.

  12. The Stations of the Cross, from our previous worship space, are original works of art by Oblate Artist, Brother Michael O’Neill McGrath, OSFS. The stations were Brother McGrath’s first commissioned artwork.

  13. The chandelier above the altar has twelve points of light, which represent key points of faith, the twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve apostles. The lights point downward to earth and upwards to the heavens.

  14. These principal features of the completed design reflect the great faith of our community. A community built on their call to “Live Jesus”.

  15. We, the people of Our Lady of Light Catholic Community embrace the call to Live Jesus. As a Catholic Community we strive to grow personally and with one another. Through prayer, worship faith formation and acts of community service we continue Jesus’ mission, guided by the Holy Spirit.
